Solid Silicon Rubber O Ring Gasket Cord
Silicone rubber cord is an ideal sealing material due to its consistent compressibility across a broad range of temperatures (-40°C up to +200°C). Commonly used in precision sealing applications where exact size o-rings are unavailable, this material offers fantastic flexibility, excellent electrical insulation and can also be bonded through the use of specific adhesives (sold separately). Supplied in coils, cut lengths or as vulcanised o rings, silicone cord is available various diameters. As standard, we supply this cord in white, blue, translucent and red oxide, but other colours are available upon request. For hygiene critical applications, we also offer this product in blue, metal detectable grade.
The term silicone covers a large group of materials in which vinyl-methyl silicone (VMQ) is often the central ingredient. Silicone elastomers as a group have relatively low tensile strength, poor tear and wear resistance. However, they have many useful properties as well. Silicone materials have good heat resistance and good cold flexibility. They also have good ozone and weather resistance as well as good insulating and physiologically neutral properties.
Applications
High temperature sealing, door seals, oven seals, packaging and food processing machinery.
